How to Have a Great Blind Date
Blind dates are scary, nerve-wracking and exciting all at the same time. You know nothing about your date other than a name. So, if you are considering going on a blind date, here are a few tips to help you relax and have a successful evening.
Get a Few Tid-Bits About The Person:
Knowing only the name of the person is not being helpful or enough if you are going for a blind date. Try to get some information about the person through your friends who set you up. Find out about his/her background and personality. Ask about likes and dislikes. Is he/she adventurous or do they prefer a quiet evening at home. Arming yourself with information ahead of time will help you to see if you have any shared interests and decide what to talk about.
If you are a girl, try to find out where you are going. Or, if you are a man, plan ahead where you will take her and let her know so that she can dress accordingly. For guys, clothes may not be an issue, a pair of clean jeans and a T-shirt or nice dress shirt might do for any place. If you are a girl, wear something attractive but avoid wearing revealing or overly seductive clothes on your blind date, for your safety. Also, you don’t want to give the wrong impression to your date.
Choose a Date Place Properly:
For blind date, it’s always better to choose a public place. Go for a cocktails or a coffee date. This way, you can spend a few hours with your blind date and decide whether you want to spend more time together. If both of you want to get to know each other better, then you make plans for future dates, like going out to dinner or a movie.
Hold a Conversation Casually:
Just get to know each other and leave serious matters for future dates. Talk about your interests, hobbies, work, and friends. Avoid talking about personal or serious matters like past relationships or family problems. You can share little about your life, but avoid relating your entire life story.
Last, but not the least, avoid drinking too much on your blind date. Nothing gives a bad impression more quickly than having too much to drink on your date. Also, jumping into the bed on the first date is not a good idea. This will ruin any chance of getting into a serious relationship later.
