You start losing your confidence and become completely dependent on the other person. You start trying to isolate yourself from friends and family because you no longer think they love and understand you like your partner does.

You always feel unhappy and the thought of leaving the relationship makes you feel guilty. If you even bring up the idea of ending the relationship, your partner attacks you with verbal assaults to make you feel demeaned and submissive.
